How to apply for our public involvement fund

Public involvement fund (PIF)

You can apply for our rolling PIF at any time, however you must submit your application form at least eight weeks in advance of your funding application deadline. You will receive a decision within three weeks of submitting a fully-completed application form.

PIF application checklist

Before applying for our Public involvement funds (PIFs), please make sure you have completed the following steps:

requested support from RDS London
been assigned a named General Adviser (through the process above)
carefully read our guidance notes to check you are both eligible for the bursary, and clear on how the funds can be used.

Please note: The NIHR Research Support Service will commence from 1 October 2023. This scheme replaces the NIHR Research Design Service (RDS) which ends on 30 September 2023.

You can continue to apply for the RDS London Public Involvement Fund up until 30 September 2023, and the last claim for reimbursement of funds will be 31 December 2023.
